Using the passive

Usually passive is used without a by-phrase.The passive is most frequently used when it is not known or not important to know exactly who performs an action.

Example:Our house was built in 1368.

The by-phrase is included only if it is important to know who performs an action.

Example: Life on the Mississippi Was written by Mark Twain.

If the speaker knows who performs an action, usually the active is used.

Example: My mother made this cake. active

Sometimes,even when the speaker knows who perform an action,she/he chooses to use the passive with by-phrase because she/he wants to focus attentionon the subject of a sentence.

Example:This cake was made by my mother.

This cake was made by my aunt.

The Perfect Progressive Tenses

1.Present Perfect Progressive 2.Past Perfect Progressive 3.Future Perfect Progressive

Present Perfect Progressive: An event is in progress.Before now,up to now.

Example: Ali has been studying for two hours.

Past Perfect Progressive: An event was in progress.Before another event in the past.

Example: Ali had been studying for two hours before his friend came.

Future Perfect Progressive:An event will be in progress. Before another event in the future.

Example: Ali will have been studying for two hours by the time his friends arrives.

میخوام بقیه ماجرا رو بگم درباره زمانها:

Example: Ali has already eaten.

Past Perfect: Two action happened in the past but one of them completely was finished before another in the past.

Example: Ali had already eaten when his friend arrived.

Future Perfect: Two actions will happen in the future but one of them will finish first completely,then the other will happen later in the future.

Example: Ali will already have eaten when his friend arrives.

زمانهای کامل:

1.حال کامل 2. گذشته کامل 3. اینده کامل

 حال کامل: یک عملی در یک زمانی قبل از الان اتفاق افتاده و همان موقع تمام شده.

مثال:در حال حاضر علی غذایش را خورده است.(یعنی غذایش تمام شده.)

 گذشته کامل:2عمل در گذشته اتفاق افتاده که وقوع و اتمام یکی کاملا قبل از دیگری بوده.

مثال:علی غذایش را قبل از اینکه دوستش برسد خورده است.

 اینده کامل:2 اتفاق در اینده اتفق خواهد افتاد که یکی از انها قبل از دیگری شروع و همان موقع به پایان میرسد.

مثال:علی قبل از اینکه دوستش برسد غذایش را خواهد خورد.

The progressive tenses:

1.Present progressive 2.Past progressive 3.Future progressive.

Present progressive:An action began in the past,is in progress at the present time,and probably will continue.

Example:Ali is sleeping right now.

Past progressive:An action began before and was in progress at a particular time in the past.

Example:Ali was sleeping when i arrived.

Future progressive:An action will began before another action,and will be in progress at a particular time in the future.

Example:Ali will be sleeping when we arrive.

...............

اینجا از زمانهای استمراری صحبت کردیم.

1.حال استمراری 2. گذشته استمراری 3. اینده استمراری.

حال استمراری:عملی در گذشته شروع شده و در حال حاضر هم هست و ممکنه در اینده هم ادامه داشته باشه.

مثال:علی خوابیده است.

گذشته استمراری: عملی که در گذشته اتفاق افتاده و یه مدت مشخصی ادامه داشته.

مثال:وقتی من رسیدم علی خواب بود.

اینده استمراری:یه عملی که قبل از عمل دیگه شروع شده و یه مدت مشخصی ادامه خواهد داشت.

مثال:وقتی من برسم علی خواب خواهد بود.

In the sentence "Bobby kicked the ball", "ball" is the object.
